Quick Stat: Three in Four US Households Will Be Online Next Year

    Posted By:

US households with internet service including broadband and dial-up will total 85.7 million in 2011, according to eMarketer. By the end of 2012, 89 million people–or 75% of total US households–will be online.

Note: eMarketer benchmarks its US broadband household numbers against the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), for which the last full year measured was 2009. “Broadband” defined as an internet connection of 200 kbps in at least one direction. Broadband estimates exclude mobile broadband subscriptions (data cards, dongles, and 3G-enabled mobile phones and PDAs).
